THE CLASSIC SAILING INSTRUMENTS! The DS45, depth sounder, is specifically engineered to fit into the familiar 4-inch cutout in the bulkhead or pedestal intrument pod. Logical features, intuitive keys, and attention to detail make it easy to get all of the necessary informationto produce intelligent sailing decisions. The DS45 is cuilt ruggedly to last a lifetime. WATER AND IMPACT PROOF The molded, one piece waterproof front lens and gasketed keys of DS45 instruments makes them perfect for cockpit or pedestal installations where rain, spray, and drenching can be expected. COMPACT SIZE The 45 SERIES fit snugly into a 4-inch cut out supported by a 5-inch front bezel. Moreover, the instruments are only 2-inches deep requiring about 1-inch behind the bulkhead keeping the installation neat and tidy. The DS45 instrument can be mounted in most instrument pods or the bulkhead. EXTRA LARGE DISPLAY Visibility is not a problem with enormous bold digits and informational flags on a high contrast background. All of your crew will be able to read the instruments from various angles even from a distance. To assure proper visibility, select from 3 levels of backlighting for the display and keys. DS45 DEPTH SOUNDER The Horizon DS45 depth sounder displays depth, selectable in feet, fathoms, or meters. Deep and shallow alarms may be set anywhere within the instrument?s rang. Both alarms can also be sent as a window around anchor depth for an anchor alarm. Naturally, alarms are both visual and audible. A unique software algorithm assures accurate depth readings in all sea conditions with minimum false readings. We call it out Lifetime Flat Rate Service Program. Erratic depth readings

There can be several causes for erratic depth readings. If the readings become erratic only when running the engine(s) or when the boat is moving the cause could either be interference from the engine(s) or cavitation. Also, poor bottom conditions can interfere with good depth readings.

Depth reading is constantly cycling up and down

Most likely the unit is in the simulation mode. To verify this unplug the transducer, if the depth sounder continues giving these readings then refer to the owners manual in order to remove the unit from the simulation mode. If there are no instructions present please contact technical support for assistance.

Can't I just put a splitter on the transducer cable to run two displays?

Transducers are "balanced" devices and are very sensitive to changes in impedance. If a splitter is installed the impedance is altered too severely and the transducer is no longer capable of operating.

How do I turn the power on and off on my depth instrument without having to disconnect it from the battery?

In a typical wiring situation the instruments are wired directly to an accessory panel or breaker. When power to the boat is turned on the instruments are designed to turn on automatically as well, making an on/off switch on the instrument unnecessary. It is possible to wire in an external on/off switch in-line if access to an accessory panel or breaker is not available.
